My husband and I have been my husband and I for 10 years as of today. He was 25 and I was 20. The day was beautiful. It was a Sunday. We had a beautiful outdoor wedding with over 200 friends and family members there to share the day.
Ten years goes by terribly fast people. I don’t know where it disappeared to. But my man and I have decided that we like each other better today than we did back then. We both look considerably different in many ways. I have four pregnancy’s worth of stretch marks but yet, lo and behold, he thinks I’m prettier now than I was back then. He weighs 45 pounds more than he did then but he was 135 back then… and didn’t have shoulders. Building a few decks, taking out the trash for ten years, mowing the lawn and heaving little boys up into the air has served him well. He has a peppering of distinguished silver hairs that he is particularly fond of as well. He looks hotter to me now than he did back then.
But really, we have a history together. One that will never be taken away. Each time we look back over the years we are reminded that our story’s beginning was written by our Heavenly Father and our story’s end will be as well…. and I hope that story lasts until both of us are a couple of inches shorter, wrinkly and have all gray hairs or… maybe no hair at all. And no teeth. And all those signs that one has lived a long life. I hope we will be able to look back on our last 60 years some day. I have a feeling all of those changes will only make us more beautiful to each other than we are right now.
I love you Shawn.
And now for wedding pictures! The wedding day was perfect. The flowers were beautiful. The cake was beautiful. The lighting for the pictures was superb. The only thing I regret about the whole day was hiring a cheesey D.J. instead of a string quartet. Doh! Oh well… funny memories there too!
