Thought

All things seem very large to us as children because we are so small. People seem big, cars seem big, buildings seem big… everything. Big, big, big. And as we grow those things seem to shrink somehow, sometimes to disappointing proportions because we are bigger, we’ve seen more, we know more. We’re not looking up at such a steep angle. Buildings are things that can fall. Cars come and go. People become more real and less plastic in our estimations of them because we are acquainted not only with the realities of the world but the realities of our own selves.

All but one.

The cross. The older we get, the more we know our capacity for sin, the larger and more glorious it becomes to us, for we see in it How very wide His arms of mercy and grace are outstretched that we might hide in their shadow.

“But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth. – Dan. 2”
